Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement, 2014-2017
The project Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement benefits from a €611.065 grant from Norway through the Norway Grants.
The Programme Operator of Czech-Norwegian research programme is Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic.
The Human Cognitive Enhancement Wiki, or HCEwiki in short, serves as an encyclopaedia of technologies that enhance or otherwise modify human cognition. It was developed under "Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement" (HCENAT) project and is now open for any reader and/or contributor interested in such topics.
As one of the results of Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement (HCENAT) project, we developed a conceptual keyboard for hospitalized patients who, for some reason, are unable to speak.
Before the end of HCENAT project, we took the opportunity to revise an information booklet on Speech Synthesis. An updated version has been published under a new title: Speech Synthesis as a Substitute for Lost Voice.
Based on the international workshop in Brussels and a long-term research under "Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement" (HCENAT) project, the team at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences prepared a report on Responsible Research and Innovation for Human Cognitive Enhancement.
International workshop at Brussels, 13th January, 2017, sought answers to theese questions: In what way could research policy actively engage in the area of human cognitive enhancement (HCE)? Can strategic funding of select areas of HCE be used to address societal challenges, such as health, ageing, better learning and increased productivity? How might responsible research and innovation (RRI) be used to inform such a funding approach?

In relation to the experiments with smartglasses which we did under "Naturalness in Human Cognitive Enhancement" (HCENAT) project, we also examined the healt issues connected to these devices. You can read about our findings in the Report on Health Aspects of Augmented Reality Glasses.
